In the spring of my junior year, I studied abroad in Berlin, Germany and interned with Dataconomy Media. I helped develop brand strategies and participated in creative concept brainstorming for the Datanatives conference. My proposal, What Makes You Tech?, was the theme for the 2019 conference with partners including Mashable, IBM, and Bayer. I came up with the theme as a play on the saying “What makes you tick?” I wanted to express that at the conference and within the company, Dataconomy, we all share a common interest in tech but each have unique focuses and interests of our own. The theme was aimed to challenge the speakers and attendees to think about what it is about Technology and Data that makes them “tick” while attending the conference and furthering their involvement with the world of data science.

Disclaimer: Dataconomy made this video after I returned home from Germany so I was not involved in the planning, filming, or editing process. I have included this video because it showcases the idea I came up with, What Makes You Tech?.
As a social media manager for the Independent Council PR Committee I made weekly posts on both Twitter and Instagram about upcoming events, photos of past events, and member shout outs. I also promoted the organization by updating stories with information about callout meetings and how to contact the organization about joining. I promoted a positive and inviting social media image for the organization.
For this individual class project I interviewed and wrote an article about a local flower shop near my University. In the magazine design process I utilized Adobe InDesign for the layout of the spread. I also took all photos and edited them using Adobe Photoshop.
